Emron
Mentioned by Mormon in a letter to his son Moroni (Moroni 9:2). It would appear that he was a commander in Mormon’s army. He was a Nephite soldier that was one of several ‘choice men’ to be slain by the Lamanites.
Etymology
Possibly derived from HEBREW ʾāmar “to speak.” If so, it may be a short-form (hypocoristicon) with the common Semitic ending on PNs and GNs -ōn for “Word (of God); (God) has spoken, commanded”. Cf. biblical HEBREW ʾimrô “his command” (Job 20:29), and possibly forming the HEBREW PNs Omri and Imri (1 Chronicles 9:4).
